BMW i7: Battery Pack and Performance
The i7 initially arrived in India last year in a single xDrive60 variant. It is powered by two electric motors and has a 101.7kWh lithium-ion battery. With 536bhp of maximum power and 745Nm of peak torque, the vehicle can reach from 0 to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds. Furthermore, the electric 7 series can be charged with up to 11kW on an AC system and up to 195kW on a DC system. The latter is supposed to fully charge the i7's batteries from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in 34 minutes. With a single charge, it can drive up to 625-kilometre.
As for the i7 M70 xDrive variant, it is also propelled by a dual-motor setup, with one motor generating 254bhp at the front axle and the other supplying 483bhp at the rear. They produce an impressive 1,015Nm of torque and a total output of 657bhp. When M Launch Control and M Sport Boost are employed in conjunction with the all-wheel drive system, torque can briefly reach 1,110Nm. The car goes from 0 to 100km/h in 3.7 seconds and has an electronically regulated top speed of 250km/h. The i7 M70 sports a 101.7kWh battery pack as well that delivers an estimated 560-kilometre of range on a single charge.
BMW i7: Styling Cues
The BMW i7 and the ICE 7 Series have similar design elements. This is especially evident in the larger kidney grille illuminated surrounds and the smaller, sharper two-element crystal LED headlamps. Its bold appearance is attributed to its long bonnet, erect face, and sharper lines. The i7 receives the blue highlights, while the 7 Series gets an M Sport look. BMW offers a range of wheel sizes for the "7" series, from 20-inch alloys to 21-inch M Sport wheels, with darker exterior elements.
Some of the distinctive styling cues of the i7 M70 xDrive are the flush-fitting door handles, slim LED tail lamps, and a dual-tone exterior paint finish. Along with other M-specific elements like side skirts, front side panels, ORVMs, and a rear spoiler, the M emblem is visible on the grille. The M70 variant also features 21-inch M light alloy wheels.
BMW i7: Safety Features
The all-electric model's safety suite includes seven airbags, cornering brake control, ABS with EBD, 3-point seatbelts for each passenger, dynamic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), and advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) features like lane change warning, blind spot assistance, and rear crossing traffic warning.
BMW i7: Cabin Layout and Feature List
The dashboard of the 7 Series is the same in both the ICE and electric versions. Apart from the leather upholstery available in two colours—black and grey—the all-electric M70 xDrive also has carbon fibre embellishments. M door sills and a 3-spoke M Walknappa leather steering wheel with M badging are two of the M-specific characteristics. Regarding features, the i7 has a curved display setup with a 14.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital driver's display running on BMW's operating system 8.
