Volkswagen, the German automaker, debuted the ID.4 GTX for the first time in India. The electric crossover, which was unveiled in 2021, is based on the ID Crozz concept that was displayed at the 2020 Auto Expo in India. Based on the MEB platform, the ID.4 is the brand's second electric vehicle.
Volkswagen, the German carmaker, recently debuted its electric SUV, the ID.4 GTX, in Kochi at its annual brand conference. The upcoming electric car, which was previously unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020, has been spotted testing frequently over the past six months. The Volkswagen ID.4 GTX, which is built on the MEB platform, is most likely the brand's first electric vehicle offered in India. The automaker plans to introduce this electric vehicle in India next year in order to capitalise on the opportunity in the rapidly expanding electric mobility space in the nation. The firm projects that by 2030, internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles will account for the remaining 75-80 per cent of its total sales in India. The company, which has unveiled a plethora of new variations of its current conventional engine models, the Taigun and the Virtus, anticipates a 40–45 per cent increase in sales this year. According to Ashish Gupta, brand director for Volkswagen Passenger Cars India, the company is pursuing a two-pronged strategy to strengthen its presence and advance its position in India: premiumisation and electrification.
