New Audi A5L with Extended Wheelbase Breaks Cover in China
The new Audi A5L is 73mm longer (4,902mm) and has a stretched wheelbase of 68mm (2,965mm) than its standard counterpart.
Audi has revealed the new A5 with a stretched wheelbase at the ongoing Guangzhou Auto Show. The A5L is the replacement for the A4L sedan and is only available in China. It has the same styling as the conventional A5, with some notable modifications. The A5L is 73mm longer (4,902mm) and has a stretched wheelbase of 68mm (2,965) than the regular model. It rides on the German marque’s new PPC Premium Platform Combustion architecture. Although Audi hasn't confirmed anything yet, we anticipate the globally unveiled A5 to arrive in our market next year. However, the launch details of the A5's long-wheelbase model in India are currently unknown.
New Audi A5L: Other Major Highlights
With sleek lines and contoured fenders, the A5L has a more sleek, athletic appearance than its A4 counterpart. It abandons any resemblance to the liftback design and stands out with significantly longer rear doors and a more noticeable tail. The A5L keeps the standard model’s digital OLED taillights and matrix LED headlights but adds a front grille LED strip and lighted four-ring insignia at both ends to stand out.

Audi has not revealed the interior of the new A5L. However, it has announced that its car will undergo some market-specific adjustments for China. It could have some of its standard sibling's amenities, such as the renowned triple-screen layout, which includes an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch central touchscreen, and a 10.9-inch front passenger display. Other notable features may include a head-up display, a four-spoke steering, and an optional Bang & Olufsen surround system.
Audi has not yet made any powertrain-related announcements. However, there are a lot of rumours that the new A5L car will come with the new EA888 Evo5 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine and 48-volt mild-hybrid system. It could offer additional market-specific options. Audi will produce the A5L in partnership with its local partner, FAW.
Audi Q7 Facelift India Launch
Audi is set to introduce the revamped Q7 luxury SUV with new features and styling in India on November 28, 2024. The updated model made its debut globally last year in January.

Internationally, the car gets three powertrain options: a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel V6 (with two output options of 228bhp and 282bhp), a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol V6 (producing 335bhp), and a 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged petrol V8 (producing 500bhp). It is expected to fetch a higher price tag than its predecessor, which retails for Rs 88.60 lakh.
