Citroen eC3 Electric Hatchback Launched in India at Rs 11.50 Lakh

The French automaker Citroen has launched its first electric vehicle in India, the Citroen eC3. The electric hatchback, which is based on the popular C3 hatchback, has an entry-level Live variant that costs Rs 11.50 lakh, and a Feel variant with dual-tone paint, and Vibe Pack that costs Rs 12.43 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom. The bookings for the Citroen eC3 have already commenced for a token amount of Rs 25,000. The EV will be available in 25 cities, including Gurgaon, Mumbai, New Delhi, Pune, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kochi, Chennai, Chandigarh, Jaipur, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Nagpur, Vizag, Calicut, Guwahati, Bhopal, Karnal, Dehradun, Rajkot, Mangalore, and Coimbatore. It is manufactured at the firm's facility in Thiruvallur, Tamil Nadu.

As mentioned above, the eC3 EV, like the ICE-powered C3, is available in two trim levels: Live and Feel. The features are also similar to the petrol model, with a 10.2-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a four-speaker audio system, and a height-adjustable driver's seat on the higher-spec Feel. The MyCitroen Connect app also brings connected car technology to the eC3. It has thirty-five smart features that enable you to check the charging status, location, driving style, and the location of the closest charging station for the owner's car. Additionally, it comes equipped with dual airbags and ABS with EBD for safety. The following is the variant-wise pricing details of the new eC3.

Mechanically speaking, the front axle-mounted electric motor that produces 56bhp of maximum power and 143Nm of peak torque is powered by a 29.2kWh battery pack in the Citroen eC3. This power allows the eC3 to reach a top speed of 107km/h. The Citroen eC3 has an ARAI-claimed range of 320 kilometres and two charging options. The first is a DC fast charger capable of charging the battery pack from 10 to 80% in 57 minutes, and the second is a 3.3kW onboard AC charger capable of CCS2 fast charging. The eC3 can also be charged at home, and it takes 10.5 hours to fully charge it from 10% to 100%. In addition, the Citroen eC3 has regenerative braking and two driving modes: Eco and Standard.

The eC3's battery will have a warranty for seven years or 1.4 lakh kilometre, which is less than Tata's standard EV battery coverage of eight years and 1.6 lakh kilometre. The vehicle's warranty is for three years or 1.25 lakh kilometre, and the electric motor is covered for five years or one lakh kilometre. Moreover, Citroen has offered an extended warranty for the eC3 that lasts up to seven years or two lakh kilometre.

In the Indian market, the car rivals the likes of the Tata Tiago EV and the Tigor EV while also offering a cost-effective alternative to vehicles like the Mahindra XUV400 and the Tata Nexon EV. In order to compete with the Tata's Tigor EV Xpress-T, the French automaker is also making the eC3 available to fleet buyers.
