2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Unveiled with Sportier Styling and Updated Powertrain Options

BMW has officially unveiled the 2025 2 Series Gran Coupe, featuring a sportier design and revamped powertrain options. The new model showcases sharper lines and a more aggressive stance, emphasising its dynamic look. Under the hood, the 2 Series Gran Coupe offers a range of improved powertrains that enhance efficiency and responsiveness. The interior combines modern technology with high-quality materials, providing a comfortable driving experience. For the 2025 model year, the compact sedan has experienced slight changes in its dimensions. The wheelbase (2,670mm) and width (1.801mm) remain the same, but the overall length has increased by 17.78mm, now measuring 4,552mm. The height has also been elevated by one inch, bringing it to 1,445mm. The model's production will take place at BMW's facility in Leipzig, Germany, with the market launch starting in March next year.

2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe: Design
The company has significantly revamped the design of the 2 Series Gran Coupe for its new F74 iteration. The updated sedan appears more aggressive and broader, with sharp, angular headlights flanking a flatter kidney grille. The new front bumper features a wider air dam positioned above the splitter element. Along the sides, the car comes with redesigned alloy wheels, ranging from 17 to 19 inches, and updated side skirts. A new 2 badge is also placed on the iconic Hofmeister kink in the rear pillar. At the back, the car boasts new taillights, while the 235 variant is equipped with a quad-tip exhaust system.
2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe: Mechanical Updates
Initially, the model lineup will include all-wheel-drive versions of the 228 and M235, priced at USD 42,775 (about Rs 35.95 lakh) and USD 50,675 (roughly Rs 42.60 lakh), respectively. Later in mid-2025, a front-wheel-drive 228 model will be introduced, offering a lower starting price of USD 40,775 (around Rs 34.27 lakh).
BMW has updated the 2 Series Gran Coupe's turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine to improve fuel efficiency. The engine is now more powerful as well, with the 228 model producing 241bhp and 400Nm, an increase from the previous generation's 228bhp and 350Nm. Although the M235's torque has decreased from 450Nm to 400Nm, its power has increased from 301bhp to 312bhp. Additionally, BMW has replaced the previous eight-speed automatic transmission with a seven-speed dual-clutch system.
The 2025 BMW 228 Gran Coupe xDrive can accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 5.8 seconds, which is half a second faster than the previous model. Meanwhile, the M235 xDrive achieves the same sprint in 4.7 seconds, just 0.1 seconds slower than its predecessor. Both models have a top speed capped at 209km/h, or 250km/h when equipped with performance tyres.
2025 BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe: Interior and Features
Like many other new BMW models, the 2 Series Gran Coupe features a large display that integrates a 10.3-inch digital gauge cluster with a 10.7-inch touchscreen, all under a single piece of glass. The infotainment system runs on BMW's latest iDrive 9 software, which includes extensive voice-assistance capabilities, as well as wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Every 2 GC now comes equipped with desirable standard features, such as a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, cloud-based navigation, keyless entry, and wireless charging.

Furthermore, the model offers amenities like backlit interior trim, heated front seats, adaptive cruise control, remote 3D camera, a head-up display, and massaging front seats. The traditional shift lever has been replaced by a compact toggle switch, similar to the one found in other models across the brand's lineup. Standard driver-assist technologies include blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and various parking sensors.
