Suzuki Motorcycle India has officially launched the V-Strom 800 DE at Rs 10.30 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for this eagerly awaited motorcycle are now open at Suzuki dealerships nationwide.
The Suzuki V-Strom 800DE adventure tourer has just been launched in India, with a price tag of Rs 10.30 lakh (ex-showroom). Unveiled at February's Bharat Mobility Expo, this middleweight adventure bike is already a hit on international markets. With a weight of 230 kg, it has a large 20-litre fuel tank and a seating height of 855mm. The motorcycle is equipped with 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels, which are fitted with Dunlop tubeless tyres. The front tyre is sized 110/80 and the rear tyre is sized 150/70. This combination ensures stability and grip on all types of terrain. The Suzuki V-Strom 800DE is positioned to compete with popular models like the Honda XL750 TRANSALP, BMW F 850 GS, and Triumph Tiger 900 in the adventure touring market.
Suzuki V-Strom 800DE: Features
Although it has a stronger and more durable subframe that can manage higher weights, the motorcycle's steel frame construction is identical to that of the GSX-8S naked bike. The Suzuki motorcycle offers a range of electronic rider aids that improve both safety and performance. The Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS) has two on-road modes and an off-road gravel mode. Additionally, the Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS) offers three separate riding modes: Active, Basic, and Comfort. Prominent features include a comprehensive LED lighting setup, a 5.0-inch TFT display for clear instrument readings, Suzuki's Easy Start System for uncomplicated ignition, and a Low RPM Assist function that facilitates smooth low-speed manoeuvres.
Suzuki V-Strom 800DE: Engine and Hardware
The Suzuki middleweight adventure bike is equipped with a robust 776cc parallel-twin engine that produces 83bhp and 78Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a smooth six-speed gearbox that comes with a bidirectional quick-shifter, enabling smooth gear changes.
The V-Strom 800DE's adjustable front fork and monoshock with remote preload adjustment provide superb handling and ride comfort. With 310 mm front discs with four-piston floating callipers and 260 mm rear discs and one-piston callipers, the braking performance is very good. The bike is equipped with dual-channel ABS as a standard feature, allowing users to disengage the rear ABS if wanted.
What about the Suzuki GSX-8R?
At the Bharat Mobility Expo in India, Suzuki also unveiled the GSX-8R. The GSX-8R shares the same 776cc engine as the V-Strom 800. However, the performance parameters of the GSX-8R are presently unknown. The bike has a sporty design, with a streamlined, pointed front end, angular body panels, and a see-through visor. Vertically stacked projector LEDs and ducts on each side of the headlights give it an aggressive and contemporary look.
Currently, Suzuki has not confirmed whether the GSX-8R will be available for sale in India.
