Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 Launched in India; Top Highlights

The much-awaited Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 has been finally launched in India at an introductory price of Rs 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The company's new global flagship motorcycle is available in two variants – Solo Tourer and Grand Tourer. On the mechanical front, the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is the third motorcycle in the range that uses a 648cc parallel twin engine, which is also found in the Continental GT 650 and the Interceptor 650. The traditional cruiser uses this engine, with updated mapping and gearing, to generate a maximum power output of 47bhp and a peak torque of 52Nm. The engine is mated to a six-speed transmission. In November 2022, Royal Enfield commenced bookings for the model in India. Now, the bikemaker is most likely to commence deliveries for the bike in the first week of February 2023.

Aesthetically, the motorcycle's design is that of a classic cruiser. It features a low, wide seat, swept-back handlebars, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, alloy wheels with fat tyres measuring 19 inches up front and 16 inches at the rear, a solid rear fender, and traditional round headlamps all around. Overall, it has a beefy appearance. The Super Meteor 650 is reportedly the longest bike in the company's line-up, measuring 2,260mm in length and having a 1,500mm of wheelbase. It weighs 241kgs, which is 39kgs more than that of the Interceptor 650. 

The standard variant of the motorcycle will be offered in 5 colour options – Astral Black, Astral Blue, Astral Green, Interstellar Grey, and Interstellar Green – whereas the Super Meteor 650 Tourer, will get Celestial Red and Celestial Blue as colour options. The tourer version also gets a large windscreen and a pillion backrest.

The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 has more features than the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 – it also features an LED headlamp as standard. Additionally, the Tripper Navigation system from the company is being installed for the first time on a 650cc Royal Enfield motorcycle. The common turn signals use the bulb-style design. On the other hand, customers have a choice of additional LED indicators. Basic rider aids are provided along with dual-channel ABS. The Super Meteor is also the first Royal Enfield motorcycle to come equipped with full LED headlamps and forks that are positioned upside-down, making it the most contemporary RE bike in terms of features and gear.

As for the prices, the middleweight cruiser costs Rs 3.49 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Astral Solo Tourer version and Rs 3.64 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Interstellar Solo Tourer variant. However, the top-spec Celestial Grand Tourer bike comes with a price tag of Rs 3.79 lakh (ex-showroom) in India.
