The new Wingman feature from Royal Enfield provides the rider with vital updates like fuel level, battery status, engine on/off status, and servicing alerts. It will eventually be installed in other RE models and is currently only available to Indian buyers.
The seasoned motorcycle manufacturer Royal Enfield recently unveiled a brand-new connected vehicle solution for its flagship cruiser, the Super Meteor 650, called "Wingman." This development from the bikemaker came just a few days before the Himalayan 450 is set to go on sale in the country on November 24. Following this, the Super Meteor 650 will now come equipped with the new feature as a standard fitment, at an extra cost of Rs 6,500 over the ex-showroom pricing. As per the firm, the Wingman function will eventually be installed in other Royal Enfield models and is currently only available to buyers in India. It is compatible with iOS and Android smartphones and can be used with the RE app and telematics devices.
Commenting about the new feature, B Govindarajan, CEO, Royal Enfield said, “At Royal Enfield, we constantly strive to enhance the riding experience for our customers. Royal Enfield Wingman is a significant step in this direction, providing riders with a more connected and safer experience. It complements our commitment to offering premium quality and innovative solutions to our riders.” Now, let's take a look at what this new feature entails for Indian bike enthusiasts.

What is the New 'Wingman' Feature?
Through an interactive dashboard in the Royal Enfield app, the Wingman connected vehicle solution gives the rider up-to-date information about the condition of the motorcycle. The owner may ensure they are always informed of their motorcycle's health by using this feature, which provides vital updates like fuel level, battery status, engine on/off status, and servicing alerts. Additionally, location tracking, walk-to-my-motorcycle functionality, and last-parked location monitoring are all possible when the phone's GPS is turned on. Details on daily rides, riding patterns, and trip data (including bike routes, maximum and average speeds, and alerts for rapid acceleration and braking) are also provided to the user.
The round-the-clock GRID support including real-time guidance and vehicle alerts is another significant advancement. This allows a rider to get in touch with a team of professional customer care representatives anytime, anywhere in the nation, should they experience any technical difficulties with their motorcycle or need assistance with anything else while out on the road.
Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650: Variants and Styling
The model can be had in two variants: Standard and Tourer. The former is available in five paint jobs - Interstellar Grey, Interstellar Green, Astral Black, Astral Blue, and Astral Green. On the other hand, Celestial Red and Celestial Blue are the two colour options for the Tourer.
In terms of appearance, both variants have a classic cruise design with circular headlamps at the front, swept-back handlebars, a solid rear fender, a curved fuel tank with 3D logos, a split-style seat, and twin-sided exhaust pipes. The Tourer variant also has travel-specific components such as a large windscreen for enhanced windblast protection and a pillion backrest for added comfort. The aluminum finish on the switchgear gives the complete package a premium appearance. The Super Meteor 650, with a wheelbase of 1,500mm and a length of 2,260mm, is purportedly the longest bike in the company's lineup. It is 39 kg heavier than the Interceptor 650, weighing 241 kg.
Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650: Engine and Hardware
The 648cc parallel-twin air-cooled engine that powers the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 also propells the Super Meteor 650, although it has a different engine map. This motor is coupled to a six-speed gearbox and is set to generate a peak torque of 52Nm and a maximum power output of 47bhp. Further, the gearbox receives different ratios.
Unlike other 650cc Royal Enfield motorcycles presently on the market, the Super Meteor 650 has alloy wheels instead of the wire-spoke rims found on the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. Furthermore, the upside-down front forks on this motorcycle are a first. At the back, twin-sided rear springs are still in use. The Super Meteor 650's braking system includes ByBre callipers and single discs on each wheel. The bike is also the first 650cc Royal Enfield to feature the brand's Tripper Navigation system.
