New KTM 390 Duke Chassis Design is Already Almost Complete for Upcoming 390 Adventure
With its 183mm of ground clearance, KTM’s new-gen 390 Duke will be the perfect starting point for the new-generation model of the 390 Adventure, which should be launched by the end of 2024.
Post the launch of the ever-popular KTM 390 Duke, all eyes are now set on the arrival of its off-road-ready cousin, the KTM 390 Adventure. However, the launch of the 390 Adventure may not be too far as the hardware that it will get is already out on the roads. Sources accessed by autoX confirmed, on the precondition of anonymity, that the chassis of the new KTM 390 Duke has been designed keeping in mind and that it will be used in the upcoming 390 Adventure. And that's not it, the chassis of the 390 Duke is close to being ready for use in the next-generation 390 Adventure and should not need a lot of changes, if any, as per the source. Furthermore, it is also confirmed that the new model of the 390 Adventure will make its debut in late 2024, and go on sale in early 2025.
If we talk about the current generation model of the 390 Adventure that is on sale in India, it is based on the outgoing version of the 390 Duke, but it was more of an adaptation of the set of parameters defining the outgoing Duke. This time around, the chassis design was approached from the get-go with the intention of pushing what the current-gen 390 Adventure can do in terms of performance.
A strong case in point is the increase in ground clearance of the new 390 Duke, which has risen from 151mm to 183mm, despite it featuring an under-belly exhaust. If the 390 Adventure is to come with a side-slung exhaust, like the current-gen model, you can expect close to 200mm of ground clearance already. Additionally, the 390 ADV will get extra travel in the suspension as expected, and a larger front wheel than the new 390 Duke and as a result, we expect the ground clearance to go even higher.

The new 390 Duke also comes with a 5-step adjustable suspension up front and rebound adjustability at the rear. For the 390 Adventure, KTM should definitely go the full 30-step of adjustability at the front that the current 390 ADV gets, and it could even offer a fully adjustable shock at the rear to increase the versatility. The 390 Duke’s larger engine also makes its peak torque and max power lower in the rev-range than before, which will again be instrumental in enhancing the ADV experience.

All the other electronic aids from the 390 Duke such as the lean-sensitive ABS and traction control and launch control are also expected to make it to the upcoming 390 Adventure.
