BMW CE 02 Electric Scooter Launched at Rs 4.50 Lakh in India
BMW Motorrad has finally launched the brand-new CE 02 in India. The new BMW CE 02 features an air-cooled, current-excited synchronous motor powered by two air-cooled lithium-ion batteries, with a voltage of 48V and a combined energy capacity of 3.9kWh.
BMW Motorrad has finally launched the brand-new CE 02 in India. Positioned below the recently introduced CE 04, the model comes in with a price tag of Rs 4.50 lakh (ex-showroom, introductory). With its futuristic appearance, innovative features, and lasting battery, the CE 02 will be a major contender in the expanding EV industry. The scooter has been produced in collaboration with TVS at the latter's manufacturing facility in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. With this model, BMW aims to enhance its appeal among riders looking for a practical solution for urban commuting. The bookings for the new CE 02 are currently underway. Interested buyers can reserve the vehicle via their nearest authorised BMW Motorrad dealership.

BMW CE 02: Design
The BMW CE 02 is smaller than the CE 04 and features a design that combines elements of both a scooter and a motorcycle. Its minimalistic style is characterised by a limited number of body panels, resulting in ample open space. The contemporary look is further enhanced by a flat seat and a notably robust headlamp design. The e-scooter can be had in two colour schemes - Cosmic Black and Cosmic Black 2.
BMW CE 02: Features
When it comes to available trims, there are two options, with the Highline package being the premium one. The standard model includes LED lighting, a USB Type-C charging port, two ride modes – Flow and Surf – along with single-channel ABS, stability control, reverse mode, keyless operation, an anti-theft alarm, and a 3.5-inch micro TFT display. The Highline package adds a ride mode called, Flash, contrasting coloured tapes, golden anodised forks, a tri-coloured seat, and heated grips. It also offers a smartphone holder and Bluetooth connectivity.
BMW CE 02: Mechanical Setup
The new BMW CE 02 features an air-cooled, current-excited synchronous motor powered by two air-cooled lithium-ion batteries, with a voltage of 48V and a combined energy capacity of 3.9kWh. This model produces a maximum power of 15bhp and a peak torque of 55Nm. With its dual-battery setup, the CE 02 is claimed to offer a range of 108 km (according to ICAT) and can reach a top speed of 95km/h. The scooter has a seat height of 745mm and weighs 142 kg. The 0-50km/h acceleration time stands at 3 seconds. Charging from 0% to 100% takes 5 hours and 12 minutes using a standard 0.9 kW charger. The charging gets faster, with the 1.5 kW quick charger included in the Highline package or available as an add-on, achieving 20%-80% SoC in just 102 minutes.

BMW CE 02: Hardware Components
On the hardware front, the CE 02 is based around a double-loop steel frame, featuring a USD fork at the front and a monoshock at the rear for suspension. It has a 239mm front disc and a 220mm rear disc for handling the braking duties. Furthermore, the scooter sports 14-inch alloy wheels, with 120/80 section front tyres and 150/70 section rear tyres.
In the international market, the price of the e-scooter starts at USD 7,599 (about Rs 6.36 lakh) and goes up all the way to USD 8,474 (approximately Rs 7.10 lakh).
