Just three months after the launch of the 2019 Dominar 400, Bajaj has now hiked its prices. The company launched the updated version in April with a sticker price of Rs 1.74 lakh (ex-showroom). The Chakan-based bike maker, then, revised the price of the motorcycle just a month after its launch. That, however, was a negligible price revision of roughly Rs 255. This time around, the hike, however, is quite significant. The 2019 Bajaj Dominar 400 is now priced at Rs 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom), which is a hike of around Rs 6,000.
Even with the increase in cost, the Dominar 400 continues to be amongst the best value for money performance offering in the country. At the heart, it’s powered by a 373cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled. The 2019 iteration makes 39bhp – 5bhp more than its predecessor. Torque rating stands at 35Nm, but it hits from 7,000rpm, which is marginally lower than the model it replaces. The engine comes paired with a 6-speed transmission and is assisted by a slipper clutch. The 2019 updated version also has upside down forks and a marginally softer rear monoshock. It also gets dual-tone diamond cut alloy wheels, a new digital instrument cluster, and a redesigned double-barrel exhaust.
Bajaj hasn’t given an official statement about the reason for the hike, but a possible reason could be that the launch price – which was just Rs 11,000 over the 2018 model – was introductory. With such competitive pricing, Bajaj has managed to score well on the sales charts. In May, the company sold more units of the Dominar than the Royal Enfield 500s and the KTM 390 Duke.
