Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance Launched in India; Features, Design Explained
The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance features front heated seats, 64-colour ambient lighting, a 14-speaker Burmester Audio system, automatic climate control, a rear-passenger display, ADAS, and more.
The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance has been introduced in the Indian market as the company's first plug-in hybrid AMG. The fastback is available only in a top-spec variant at a price tag of Rs 3.30 crore (ex-showroom). Launched by the performance car division of Mercedes-Benz, it is based on the standard GT 63 S 4-door coupe. The new GT 63 S E Performance, the company says, is the most powerful production model to date. It can generate 832bhp of maximum power and 1,470Nm of peak torque, drawing power from a turbo-charged V8 engine and an electric motor. The GT 63 S E hypercar, which marked its international debut in September last year, measures 5,054mm in length, 1,953mm in width, and 1,447mm in height. The newly launched 4-door coupe offers an AMG Ride Control plus air suspension, an adaptive damping system, and exterior accessory packs that include a night pack, a carbon fibre pack, and an aero pack. It comes in 17 exterior colour schemes comprising Copper Orange Magno, Designo Diamond White Bright, Designo Graphite Grey Magno, Polar White, Hi-Tech Silver, Obsidian Black, Graphite Grey, Spectral Blue, and more.

Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance: Exterior
Design-wise, the Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance boasts an aggressive stance. Its stylish accents qualify it for an E-Performance vehicle. The car seems to have a muscular and sporty appearance as evident from a low front section, squat greenhouse, and bodywork.
Upfront, the new performance hybrid car gets a chrome-finished AMG radiator grille with vertical slats, multibeam LED headlamps, E Performance badging, and a revised bumper. At the rear, the car has a hybrid-specific apron with an integrated plug-in charging flap, a sloping roofline, an electrically extendable and retractable spoiler, a revised bumper, trapezoidal twin exhaust tailpipes, and a diffuser. It rides on 20-inch AMG 5-twin-spoked forged wheels wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres and can also be driven on 21-inch wheels.

Inside the spacious cabin, the AMG GT 63 S E Performance has a sporty ambiance, Alcantara inlays, and AMG-specific enhancements. It features front heated seats, 64-colour ambient lighting, a 14-speaker Burmester Audio system, automatic climate control, a rear-passenger display, ADAS, and more. It offers a glass roof, an AMG Performance steering wheel with circular buttons, power closing doors, and dual 12.3-inch displays with intelligent MBUX functions. Customers also get to choose from a list of different colour options for the high-end Nappa leather trim in the cockpit.
Several hybrid-specific information such as real-time consumption data, an EV range indicator, energy flow, etc. is visible to car owners while driving. Besides, the car also receives seven driving modes - Slippery, Comfort, Individual, Sport, Sport+, Electric, and Race, and four levels of regenerative braking with one-pedal-driving capabilities.
Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance: Powertrain, Performance
The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance gets power from a 4.0-litre, turbo-charged V8 engine, which produces 630bhp of maximum power and 900Nm of peak torque and comes mated to an AMG Speedshift MCT 9G automatic transmission. With a rear axle-mounted electric motor, the car's powertrain can produce around 201bhp and 320Nm. Combining the V8 engine and electric motor, the AMG GT 63 S E Performance delivers 832bhp and 1,470Nm.
The car can sprint from a standstill to 100km/h in just 2.9 seconds and reaches 200km/h in 10 seconds. It has a claimed top speed of 316km/h. Along with a drift mode, its 4Matic+ all-wheel drive system provides fully variable torque distribution.

Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S E Performance: Battery
The AMG GT 63 S E Performance is equipped with a 6.1kWh battery that is developed in Affalterbach. It offers a 70kW output. With this output, the GT 63 S E Performance has an EV-only range of 12 kilometre and a top speed of 130km/h.
