Mahindra XUV400 EC, EL Pro Variants Leaked, to Get New Digital Screens and More
The Mahindra XUV400 EC Pro will be equipped with a smaller 34.5kWh battery pack, while the top-spec EL Pro will get a larger 39.4kWh battery.
In January this year, Mahindra launched its first EV, called the XUV400, in India. Hardly 15 days into the launch, the electric SUV garnered over 10,000 bookings. Now, the manufacturer is gearing up to introduce the updated version of the electric vehicle that is expected to make its way into the country in 2024. The all-electric Mahindra XUV400 currently comes in two variants: EL and EC, powered by a 39.4kWh and a 34.5kWh battery, respectively. However, a recently leaked internal document suggests that the updated version will be offered with two new variants — EC Pro and EL Pro. We do not whether they will replace the existing variants or will be offered along with them.
The mechanical specifications remain the same. The EC Pro will be equipped with a smaller 34.5kWh battery pack, yielding a claimed range of 375 kilometres (MIDC). Meanwhile, the top-spec EL Pro will get a larger 39.4kWh battery, returning a range of 456 kilometres (MIDC) on a single charge.

That said, the 34.5kWh and 39.4kWh batteries will send power to a front axle-mounted electric motor, generating 150bhp and 310Nm of power. These figures enable the XUV400 to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.3 seconds. The claimed top speed is 150km/h.
Mahindra XUV400 Facelift: New Features
Mechanicals aside, the EC Pro variant will feature a push start/stop button, passive keyless entry, rear AC vents, OCPI hub integration, two USB charging ports, and more. The top-spec EL Pro, meanwhile, will come with dual 10.25-inch screens for infotainment and instrumentation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, auto-dimming IRVM, a new steering wheel, a wireless charger, six speakers, and more.
Also available will be Alexa connectivity, dual-zone climate control, and a new dashboard, depending on the variant. However, it remains to be seen if these feature updates will be offered with the current model or the facelifted version. Speaking of which, a test mule of the XUV400 Facelift was sighted for the first time, revealing the same silhouette as the previous-generation model.
Mahindra XUV400 Facelift: To Get ADAS?
While the company offered no details on ADAS, the recent spy photos suggest that ADAS will likely be available in the facelifted model. If Mahindra plans on doing so, it will be the first EV sub-compact SUV in the nation to have this convenience and safety function. Besides, Mahindra is expected to equip the refreshed electric SUV with a 360-degree camera, electronic stability control (ESC), and six airbags.
Mahindra will likely roll out the facelifted XUV400 in the second half of 2024. As for the price, the EV may command a slightly higher price than that of the existing model. For reference, the current-generation XUV400 retails between Rs 15.99 lakh and Rs 19.19 lakh (ex-showroom).
