Lamborghini Huracan Successor to Come with Twin Turbo V8 Plug-in Hybrid Engine with 10,000rpm Redline
The new V8 unit from Lamborghini will be rare in the world of road-going super sports cars since it will deliver 789bhp of maximum power between 9,000 and 9,750rpm, achieving a peak engine speed of 10,000rpm.
Lamborghini has officially confirmed that the highly anticipated Temerario supercar, which is expected to succeed the Huracan supercar, will not feature its famed V10 engine. Instead, it will get a twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 unit, unlike the outgoing model's naturally aspirated 5.2-litre V10 engine. The Italian automaker has further added that a dual-clutch eight-speed transmission, which is also found in the Revuelto hypercar, will be mated to the new V8 together with three electric motors. A recent trademark action from the carmaker suggests that the upcoming car, code-named the 634, may adopt the Temerario moniker when it goes into production.

Lamborghini Huracan Successor Twin Turbo V8 Plug-in Hybrid: Key Details
As mentioned above, the codename for the Huracan's successor is Lamborghini 634. The carmaker claims that the new flat-plane-crank V8 has a completely new design, with the clear goal of outperforming the V10. While Lamborghini hasn't revealed all the technical specifications, it has given us some very interesting details.
With its 4.0-litre displacement and remarkable 197bhp/litre of specific power, the twin-turbo V8 is quite powerful. The new V8 will be rare in the world of road-going super sports cars since it will deliver 789bhp of maximum power between 9,000 and 9,750rpm, achieving a peak engine speed of 10,000rpm – a figure often reserved for racing engines. Due to the flawless integration of the electric unit and combustion engine, the car can provide a maximum torque of 730Nm between 4,000 and 7,000rpm, with an exciting progression similar to a race engine.
The new V8's rear electric system, which comprises an axial electric unit and an inverter, is located between the dual-clutch transmission and the combustion engine. At 3,500rpm, it can produce up to 300Nm of torque and 147.5bhp of power, while maintaining a small size and less weight. According to the manufacturer, the new V8's characteristics 'intensify in a crescendo that at high revs reaches its peak in terms of volume and frequency content and this, in harmony with the vibrations transmitted to the chassis by the flat-plane crankshaft, creates an all-encompassing sensory experience.'
