2025 BMW X3 Spotted Testing in Germany; Shows Production Headlights, and More
BMW, the German luxury carmaker, has been spotted testing its much-awaited 2024 iteration of the X3. The most recent sighting in Germany provides a look at its production series headlights, larger, square-shaped kidney grilles, flush door handles, and more.
As we are all set to enter 2024, the new BMW X3 (codenamed G45) continues to create a buzz in the global automotive market. The 2025 iteration of the model has previously been seen on the road in test mule form, and the most recent sighting in Germany provides a look at its production series headlights. The recently unveiled BMW X1, X2, and 5 Series all have headlights that are strikingly similar to these ones. Notably, the distinctive kidney grille keeps its conventional dimensions, bucking the tendency toward excess that is evident in various other BMW vehicles. The luxury car manufacturer is constantly revamping its portfolio thanks to its extensive variety of crossovers and SUVs. After rolling out the redesigned X5 and X6 earlier, it recently introduced the X2 and the iX2. Furthermore, the striking XM, the upgraded X7, and the new-gen X1 were all released last year. The 2025 X3 is going to enter the market in 2024, but in the interim, the highly-anticipated model from the house of BMW is undergoing road tests. Here's all we know about the new X3 so far.

2025 BMW X3: Platform
The upcoming BMW X3 series is generating a lot of interest since it will employ two different platforms. The all-electric iX3 (codenamed NA5) will use the Neue Klasse platform, while the conventional and plug-in hybrid X3s (codenamed G45) will stick to the CLAR platform. The possibility for distinctive design components and cutting-edge interior improvements exists thanks to these diverse structures.
2025 BMW X3: Key Design Details
The 2024 version of the X3 will not merely be a straightforward facelift since it is a six-year-old model. Therefore, when it comes to appearance, the X1 and X3 will be extremely similar, sharing the same flush door handles, window line that extends past the C-pillar, hood that wraps over the top of the front fenders, and larger, square-shaped kidney grilles. However, to tell the two apart, there will be one apparent difference between the two. The DRLs of the X3 appear to curve below the primary LED light unit rather than above it, in contrast to the X1, where they are curved like the two "r"s. And compared to the X1, the Y-shaped rear lights on the X3 will be far more recognisable.
Coming to the rear end, the taillights, which have two parallel light bars that extend into the trunk and an X motif that wraps around the fenders, are likewise not particularly surprising. Moreover, as you would expect on a crossover, there is a roof spoiler and a tailgate.
2025 BMW X3: Interior
As far as the model's interior is concerned, the entirely revamped dashboard with a curved dual-screen display, which serves as the centerpiece for the current infotainment unit in the BMW X3, is one remarkable interior element. Each half of the dual-screen display is devoted to different functions. Intriguingly, BMW's newest iDrive 8.5 system is anticipated to debut in the all-new X3's iDrive system.
2025 BMW X3: Expected Powetrain Options
The 2025 BMW X3 will come with a wide selection of powertrain options, ranging from gasoline-powered X3 20, X3 20d, or X3 30 models to plug-in hybrid X3 30e versions. The updated BMW X3 M50 will sit at the top of this lineup. Take note of the absence of the "i" sign, which previously signified fuel-injected engines. The "i" remains only an indicator for BMW electric cars, exactly as it is on existing models. The upgraded B58 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine, which produces 377bhp, will also drive the M Performance Version of the X3 M50.

2025 BMW X3: Launch Timeline
The auto major will introduce the updated X3 in 2024, but there won't be an iX3. This is due to the all-electric version switching to the Neue Klasse platform which is separate from the CLAR-based model. The electrified version of the vehicle and the i3 Sedan are expected to go on sale in 2025. Besides this, both are also anticipated to get the full M treatment in the coming years. The production of the updated X3 will take place at the firm's Spartanburg facility.
